3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Harmful in contact with skin and if swallowed. Irritating to eyes and skin.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation: No hazard.

Skin Contact: In our long experience, the product is not a primary irritant; prolonged and repeated contact can cause a reaction, especially to sensitive skins. Barrier creams or gloves in these cases are necessary.

Eye Contact: These products may cause smarting. Irrigate thoroughly with warm water. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

Ingestion: These products are unlikely to be unintentionally ingested in sufficient quantity to cause discomfort.

In cases of large quantity ingestion, use an emetic and obtain medical advice at once.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Extinguishing Media: No restriction necessary. Jelly adhesives are non-flammable, having no flash point, and therefore no special precautions are necessary. There is no restriction on extinguishing needed.

Hazardous Decomposition Products: Oxides of Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Spill Clean-Up Methods: Spillages may be mopped up with hot water. However, larger spillages may be peeled from most working surfaces when cool and disposed of according to Local Authority Regulations.

Cleaning: Wash all equipment with warm water. If the adhesive has dried, it is preferable to soak the equipment in cold water for 1 to 2 hours first.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Storage: No special precautions are necessary. Store unopened containers in a cool place. No protection from

frost is necessary.

Handling: When handling, it is recommended that barrier creams or gloves are used, and where splashing may occur, wear goggles when the adhesive is heated and in a liquid state.

Gloves are advisable to prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact and goggles to avoid splashes to the eyes where the method of application makes it necessary.

These adhesives contain between 1% and 4.5% Phenol. It has been our experience over many years that this preservative, used at the above level, presents no danger - provided the general precautions (as note number 4 of this leaflet) are followed.

Physical Data Comments:

When Sheppy Jelly adhesive CB4 and Sheppy Scotch are heated to the recommended operating temperature, they become liquid and a bond on cooling after application to the substrate.

Sheppy Glutina is liquid at normal room temperatures and requires no heat in use. However, if stored in cold conditions it gels and will require mildly warming before use.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Stability: Stable. If stored correctly, product will remain in a usable state for at least twelve months.

Hazardous Decomposition Products: Fire - Oxide of Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Degradability: Being natural products they are environmentally friendly and are biodegradable. Paper and board bonded with these products are recyclable.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION

The dried adhesive can be disposed of with normal waste in accordance with Local Authority Regulations.

14. TRANSPORT INFORMATION
