Sheppy Jelly Adhesive C1 Flex
Technical data
Specially formulated natural adhesive of low odour.
It's high solids and being fully flexible give it a wide
application for book binding, spine work and case making
operations.
This adhesive's very high wet tack make it
particularly suitable for use on automatic case making
machines, giving excellent non-warp characteristics to
the finished case. It is suitable for use on Smythe-Horn,
Colbus and Hauraff machines, bonding a wide range
of substrates. It is also suitable for conservation work
where Balema, Swift, and Nubal machines are used for
hand made case making operations. However, customers may
prefer to use our slower setting/longer open time grade
Sheppy Adhesive CB4 for this
type of work.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
- Packed in 12.5 kilo corrugated cases with
Polythene liners, this adhesive should be turned out
of the box. Being pre-cut, it is easily divided into
approximately 1 kilo slabs, suitable for placing
into the adhesive trough.
- The adhesive should be heated to a temperature of
50°- 60° C (120°- 140° F) when it will liquify
and be ready for use. In no circumstances must the
heat of the adhesive exceed 60° C (140° F)
otherwise one risks the adhesive becoming degraded.
- Being a versatile adhesive, C1 Flex will probably
require dilution for some operations. If evaporation
has occurred, small quantities of warm water may be
added.
- In common with all natural adhesives, it is
recommended to clean the adhesive troughs regularly
to maintain the good quality and preserve the odour
and colour of the adhesive.
- NB: Open time of this adhesive can be lengthened
by increasing the operating temperature to 60° C
and/or the addition of warm water.
- The adhesive is completely non-foaming and
entirely innocuous.
F.D.A. STANDARDS:
The materials used in this formulation conform to the
requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations 21
CFR175, 105.
Effect on the Environment
Being a natural colloid, this adhesive is water
soluble and any paper/board bonded with it is completely
recyclable. It is also biodegradable in normal effluent
processing plants and will break down in the soil to
become an organic plant nutrient.
